Since 1989 Stoneking Physical Therapy and Wellness has done its best to be a role models and leader in physical therapy for the benefit of the profession and patients served. This dedication has involved taking the “high road” in everything we do and pushing the innovation envelope to stay “ahead of the curve” in healthcare. All therapists provide compassionate, outcome-driven care, yielding a positive patient experience that can actually be fun.

Business owner Richard Stoneking, PT, a veteran of the physical therapy profession since 1979, graduated from Ewing High School and the University of Pennsylvania. Self-employed since 1989, the decision to locate the offices in Ewing and Lambertville were logical choices given the hometown roots of Ewing and current residence in the Lambertville/Stockton area.

In addition to doing traditional orthopedic and sports physical therapy, the team of therapists (including son Brandon) also cater to the older adult community, whom they classify as baby boomers and their parents. Mental, social, and physical stimulation are provided through membership to the unique Wellness Center gyms. The assessment of heart rate, pulse oxygen levels, blood pressure (both pre and post exercise), and functional mobility testing are just a few of the standard operating procedures that make this medically oriented gym a notch above the rest.

With a strong sense of community pride, Stoneking Physical Therapy and Wellness routinely gives back to the communities it serves. Examples include health-related lectures to senior and religious groups, charitable giving through an annual 5K Shad Run/1 mile walk initiated in Lambertville in 2012, and “Wellness Walks, Wellness Talks” at Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton, initiated by Stoneking in 2010.

These biweekly spring and fall lectures feature a 45-minute walk, free, healthy breakfast, and brief lecture on a health-related topic. Admission to the Grounds are free to Stoneking Wellness gym members and members of Grounds For Sculpture. Aside from 50-plus years of combined staff experience treating patients, Stoneking Physical Therapy and Wellness prides itself on two basic business principles. The first is the refusal to use “extenders of care.” Treatment is provided exclusively by the most highly degreed professional throughout the course of care. This principle has created better patient rapport, greater continuity of care, and a more seamless, rapid transition to recovery.

The second principle is timely and complete narrative communication with referring physicians. Although physician referral is no longer required for therapy, Stoneking makes it a point to communicate in writing with the patient’s physician of record. This collaboration with physicians works to the benefit of the patient and referring physician.
